Respiratory Care for Premature Babies

Most premature babies are born with underdeveloped lungs. Once they are healthy enough to leave the Neonatal Intensive Care ward, many of them still require CPAP (Constant Positive Airway Pressure) treatment before they can be sent home from the hospital.

Cadence provides CPAP breathing support to neonatal patients in non-critical care environments.  Cadence integrates the bassinet, CPAP unit, humidifier, and patient interface into a height-adjustable and highly mobile care platform.

Cadence promotes easy kangaroo care with the mother, seamless transportation, and increased parental involvement throughout the patient's journey.

This project was designed in collaboration with Umeå University Hospital and a leading Swedish medical technology company.
