1981 Yamaha XS400 Café Racer
This was my first attempt at rebuilding and customizing a vintage motorycle.
I wanted to take on a project that would let me work with real materials, and without the use of a computer. All of the work on the bike was done by hand in my garage: from bending and welding steel tube and sheet metal to final paint and polish.
My vision for the project was to turn an undesirable bike with no collector value into a brat-style café racer. I wanted to keep the design as clean and minimal as possible, with careful attention paid to the lines and visual weight of the bike.
